Administration
A trained interviewer completes the selected ASI version across its medical, employment, substance-use, legal, family/social and psychiatric areas.
Scoring method
Multidomain interview with domain composite scores; no single generic addiction score.
Interpretation & limitations
- Report the individual domain composites and distinguish them from interviewer severity judgments.
- Interpret the findings alongside the clinical interview, functioning, history and relevant physical assessment.
- There is no valid generic grand addiction score. ASI-Lite fields and full interview composites require their own scoring keys.
- Use the original instrument and manual for item wording, rating anchors, missing-data rules and any normative conversions. This reference does not establish a diagnosis or select treatment.
