| Version | Mini-SPIN; original three-item social-anxiety screen |
| Respondent | Self-report |
| Purpose | Mini-Social Phobia Inventory (Mini-SPIN) — administration and scoring reference. |
Administration
Use the original three-item self-report and its recall period. Retain the original response scale; a selection of arbitrary SPIN items is not Mini-SPIN.
Scoring method
Three selected item ratings summed; screening instrument.
Interpretation & limitations
- A screening finding identifies a reason to explore social fear, avoidance and impairment in interview.
- Interpret the findings alongside the clinical interview, functioning, history and relevant physical assessment.
- This short screen does not measure all social-anxiety presentations and does not substitute for the 17-item SPIN.
- Use the original instrument and manual for item wording, rating anchors, missing-data rules and any normative conversions. This reference does not establish a diagnosis or select treatment.
